Charles Schrader
We are heartbroken to share the passing of our dad and proud
Gampy, Charles Arnold Schrader a kind, hardworking man who lived a
life full of adventure, laughter, and deep love for his family. He
passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 10th, 2026 in
Yarmouth Regional Hospital at the age of 80.
Dad was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to take on
many jobs throughout his life. From working with his team of oxen in
his younger years to driving a streetcar while living in Toronto, he
always did whatever was needed to provide. It was during that time
that he and our mom adopted us both, beginning the family that meant
everything to him.
He fell in love with his
beautiful wife, Lucie Muise, and through his hard-headed determination
to get what he wanted, they went on to build a gorgeous life together.
They were married for 49 years, sharing a lifetime of love,
resilience, and family.
After returning home
from Ontario, Dad made his living fishing and through various other
occupations. He was happiest at sea, where he found peace and purpose,
and where many of his well-loved fishing stories began.
He was also an avid camper who cherished time outdoors,
especially when it was spent with family.
In
his later years, Dad was fortunate enough to share his life with his
second wife, Geraldine, with whom he created many more cherished
memories. With a recent joy in cooking and baking, Dad was always
bringing people together and making sure no one left his table
hungry.
Above all, Dad loved his family
deeply. His greatest joy was simply being with us—fishing,
camping, cooking, or sharing stories. We will miss him dearly and will
carry his love, lessons, and laughter with us always.
