Earl d'Entremont

Earl d'Entremont

Earl Henry d’Entremont affectionately known as ‘Earl a Russ’, age 77, of West Pubnico, died peacefully with family by his side on April 24, 2024 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital.  Born in West Pubnico, he was a son of the late Rester Alphée and Angelina Françoise (Surette) d’Entremont.  He was a retired lobster fisherman.  He is survived by his wife JoAnn (McComiskey) d’Entremont, daughters; Nancy (Chris) d’Entremont-Campbell, Argyle Head and Jolita d’Entremont (Scott Keough), Plate Cove West, NL, a brother Reynold, Yarmouth, mother-in-law Joyce McComiskey, Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle, grandchildren; Liam and Mya.  Earl was predeceased by his sister Anne Margaret d'Entremont.

Earl’s family meant everything to him.  A loving husband of 53 years, he and his wife were inseparable and perfectly defined as soul mates. They enjoyed Sunday drives and evening drives looking for deer, often stopping for ice cream on the way home.   He enjoyed spending time with his two daughters and their families and was especially proud of his two grandchildren.

Earl was a hard working man.  A fisherman from the young age of 17, he spent most of his life on the water until he retired at the age of 64.  After retirement he kept busy fixing small engines, outboard motors and lawn mowers.  If it had a motor, he could fix it.  He loved the challenge.  He was well known in the community as a handy man and it was not unusual for him to arrive home to an engine of some sort sitting by his shed door with a note from the owner asking him to "please fix it. "

Earl could be found early in the morning walking the trails at the Pubnico Wind Farm. On his way home he would often stop for a yarn or two with his friends.   He spent most days in his shed working on his truck, his tractor, motors and listening to country music and CIFA.

His greatest pastime was music.  He was a well known singer and guitar player.  He performed several times at the Coal Shed Festival and often took part in kitchen parties and music nights.  He spent many evenings by a campfire playing tunes and whenever there was a family get together he would always bring along his guitar.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and medical staff for all of the love and affection that was shown to Earl and our family during his time at the hospital.
