Gregory Hines

Gregory Hines

Another Angel has been taken home.  It is with immense sorrow we are announcing passing of Gregory Chapman ‘Crunch’ Hines, age 72, of Central Argyle after a courageous battle with Leukemia.

Born in Central Argyle, he is a son of Dorothy Ann Minerva (Goodwin) and the late Frederick Haskell Hines.  He was a retired truck driver.

Surviving are his brothers; Kyle, Central Argyle, Rickie, Lower Argyle and, sister; Rhonda (Wayde), Dutch Settlement, nieces; Leah, Trinity and Jenna.  He was predeceased by brother Shawn and brother-in-law Clark.

Crunch was the most kind, compassionate, gentle and generous soul in a world that is often anything but.  He was dedicated to the care of his mother for many years.

The love of his life was tinkering in his shop and race cars.  His second passion was deer hunting.  In fact, Crunch snagged his final deer shooting left-handed.  He often could be found at Steve’s Garage "yarning" with the boys or hanging out at Camp Cove Wharf.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional and compassionate care provided by the all the staff of the Oncology Department and the Blood Collection Lab of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.  To all his friends that ran him around to the multitude of medical appointments over the past 11 months we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.   Special thanks are extended to his Hematologist, Dr.  Alfredo De La Torre and the entire cancer care team in Halifax.  In Crunch’s own words, you did your best.

Crunch’s passing has left a huge void for his family, his racing family and the community.  Rest in peace Crunch.
