Heather Loveridge

Heather Loveridge Heather Loveridge
Heather Dawn Loveridge

December 21 1953 -16 June 2022

After 7 months enduring, with great courage and fortitude, metastatic cancer in her spine, Heather slipped below the waves, as she wished, at home in the arms of her family. In peace and with dignity.
Heather was born in the community of Lower Argyle and spent most of her life there. Like most of her peers, she lived in a small house with indifferent heating from a coal stove, water from a hand pump which frequently froze in winter , and an outhouse for a toilet. Her childhood was far from idyllic, but she found contentment in the three years she lived on Naushon Island, near Cape Cod. This may have fostered her adventurous spirit which manifested itself in later life.
After graduating from the high school in Yarmouth, she realised that women need to be self reliant and was one of the first CNA (now LPN) graduates from Burridge Vocational School. After a few years working at the Yarmouth Regional hospital, in 1980 she joined Dr. Peter Loveridge’s practice as the only medical assistant. She worked there for the next 41 years, up to the day before she got her terminal diagnosis
In her time she helped thousands, if not tens of thousands , of people.
Heather’s first husband, Russell (a Willis) d’Entremont died early from inherited colon cancer, a condition not well understood at the time. His and Heather’s son. Lennox survives. In 1987 Heather and Peter married . Their love for each other was seldom equalled and never exceeded. It never faded.
Heather had an adventurous spirit and travelled to Europe , Barbados, and the Bahamas and Florida many times. Her grandest adventure was sailing her little boat, of which she had a major role in its construction ,to the Bahamas and back, She made lifelong and dear friends on this trip. Her other big adventure was a double crossing of the Atlantic on the Queen Mary 2. As it backed out into New York’s East River, she said " who would ever have thought that two kids from our background could ever be doing this". Later, when she knew that she had a terminal illness, she reflected that she was glad we did what we did when we did, even though the finances were marginal, and  didn’t wait for retirement. Given our existence on the planet is temporary, this would be a lesson well learned.
Her other love was what she called "our little family". Son Lennox d’Entremont, daughter-in-law Tanya , grand-daughters Grace and Olivia. She took great joy in them and at least lived to see them start to develop into beautiful young women’
Heather was predeceased by her father, Elmer Lennox, and brother , Tyler Lennox. She is survived by her husband, Peter, mother Edyth Joyce Lennox, brother Stacey Lennox, Her "little family" Lennox, Tanya, Grace and Olivia, stepson Jonathan ( Susan)Loveridge, grand-daughters Abigail and Arwen, Fort McMurray, stepdaughter Sarah Loveridge, Middleton, NS. Special cousins Peggy (Kevin) d’Entremont, Dayle ( Greg ) Surette, Allan ( Virginia ) MacKenzie, special friends Albert and Myrna d’Entremont, Wayne and Rhoda Kelley, Herb Lock, Jason and Carla Christopher, Mike Miller. There are of course others too numerous to mention
