Gary Andrea

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Stewart Andrea, age 69 at home in West Pubnico on May 16, 2022.  His short battle with cancer ended in his beloved home in West Pubnico surrounded by his partner Sacha and loved ones.  For those who could not be there, know that your love was deeply felt and very present.  Gary was born in Sydney, NS and grew up in the Whitney Pier area.  He was a son of Donald (Dan) Andrea and the late Stella Andrea.  Gary was a graduate of Sydney Academy High School and he was a veteran who served in Cyprus in Peace Keeping.  He also did a tour in CFS Alert in the North and had multiple postings across Canada.  For the past 9 years, Gary and his partner Sacha worked relentlessly on their 100 year old house and property, creating stunning gardens.  Gary’s sense of humor was present to his final day.  His caring, courageous and sometimes stubborn nature will be surely missed.  He had the soul of an artist and a passion for life.  He is survived by his partner Sacha Turgeon, daughter; Deshonna (Chris) and a son Craig (Ruth) both of Chilliwack, BC, grandchildren; Tristin, Madison, Karis, Calista, Kael, Grady, Arin, brothers; Don (Beverly) Ontario, Eric, Sydney, NS, Kevin (Denise), Halifax, NS, a sister Karen (Chris) Andrea-Crocker, Mira Gut, Cape Breton, the mother of his children Janet Corbett, Sydney, NS.  He is also survived by his fur babies, Valentino and Clementine who were by his side throughout his journey with cancer. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law Valerie Green-Andrea.

Gary would like to thank Sacha’s family for all the love and support that was shown to him over the past 16 years.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  On line condolences may be forwarded to the family at westpubnicofh.com.  Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice. It is with extreme sadness that I have lost Gary, the love of my life.  You just went too fast.  I still had so much to share with you.  Life will never be the same without you Gary.  Hope you are flying high with the angels of heaven and all your loved ones who have passed before you.  And please, from up there, keep an eye on me and all the others who love you.  You will always be in my heart, my love, and I will never forget how wonderfully happy you have made me for the 16 years of our life together.  Love you always…Sacha
