Walter d'Entremont

Walter d'Entremont

Walter Oliver d’Entremont, age 93, affectionately known as ‘Ti-Pilot" of Lower West Pubnico, died May 2, 2022 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital.  Born in Stoneham, Mass, he was the son of the late Oliver Existe and Angela Columbe (d’Entremont) d’Entremont.  He was a retired boat builder and a retired fire fighter of the West Pubnico Volunteer Fire Department.  He is survived by his wife Louise Elizabeth (Doucette) d’Entremont, son Alfred (Karen) and daughter Elaine d’Entremont all of Lower West Pubnico, grandchildren; Claire, Rémi and Séamus. 

There will be no visitation.  A Mass of Christian burial will take place Tuesday, May 10th at 2pm in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Wedgeport with Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiating.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  Donation in memory may be made to a charity of choice.  Online condolences may be forwarded to the family at westpubnicofh.com.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the West Pubnico Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Middle West Pubnico. 902 762-3407

Walter was four years old when his family returned to West Pubnico. He attended elementary school in Lower West Pubnico and completed grades eight, nine and ten at College Sainte Anne in Church Point. In his youth, Walter was a left handed baseball pitcher for the West Pubnico travelling team and played hockey at College Sainte Anne. He was a lifelong fan of his beloved Boston Red Sox and Montreal Canadiens.  Walter enjoyed music and learned to play the drums during his time at College Sainte Anne. He was a drummer for local bands in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, playing at Legion halls on weekends. Walter was a thirty-year member of the West Pubnico Fire Department.  A boat builder his entire working life, Walter enjoyed people and always loved to ‘have a yarn’. He appreciated a nice car and he worked part-time at Tusket Sales and Service as a sales consultant in the 60’s and 70’s.                                                              He was a kind and humble man who enjoyed gardening in his greenhouse and going for drives around the area in his later years.
