In his youth, Walter was a left handed baseball pitcher for the West Pubnico travelling team and played hockey at College Sainte Anne. He was a lifelong fan of his beloved Boston Red Sox and Montreal Canadiens. Walter enjoyed music and learned to play the drums during his time at College Sainte Anne. He was a drummer for local bands in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, playing at Legion halls on weekends. Walter was a thirty-year member of the West Pubnico Fire Department. A boat builder his entire working life, Walter enjoyed people and always loved to ‘have a yarn’. He appreciated a nice car and he worked part-time at Tusket Sales and Service as a sales consultant in the 60’s and 70’s. He was a kind and humble man who enjoyed gardening in his greenhouse and going for drives around the area in his later years.
