Melvin d'Entremont

Melvin James d’Entremont affectionally known as "Swiss", age 73 of Lower West Pubnico, died February 28, 2021 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital.  Born in West Pubnico, he was a son of the late Donald and Jane Rose (d’Eon) d’Entremont.  He is survived by brothers, Harold (Glenda); Francois (Jocelyne) both of Lower West Pubnico; Edgar (Nancy), Gavelton; a sister, Marcella Surette Lower West Pubnico; sister-in-law, Carol Anne d’Entremont, Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle.  He was predeceased by brother, Danny; sister; Julianna; and two brothers-in-law; Flavien Surette and Maurice LeBlanc.

Melvin was a staple in the Pubnico community, often seen hitching a ride to the Café.  It was the pleasure of many to pick him up, as he was often up to date on the local news.  He was friendly and well liked by everyone.  Melvin had a unique one-armed wave, which was his way of greeting everyone in the community.  His presence will be missed by everyone.   

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 there will be no visitation.  A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 4th at 2pm from St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Middle West Pubnico with Fr. Cyrille Assihou officiating.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  Due to COVID-19 the funeral will be for family and invited guests only.  The funeral will be live streamed on the West Pubnico Funeral Home and Cremation Services Association Facebook page beginning at 2pm.  Donations in memory may be made to St. Peter’s Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice.  On line condolences may be forward to the family at westpubnicofh.com.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the West Pubnico Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Middle West Pubnico.  902 762-3407

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Pont du Marais Boarding Home for being so kind to Melvin during his stay.  You all were truly an extension of his family.
