Augustin d'Eon

d'EON, Augustin Denis "Gus" age 83, of West Pubnico, died August 26, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in West Pubnico, he was a son of the late Frank and Ida (d'Entremont) d'Eon. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Claire Georgenie d'Entremont; son, Nolan, West Pubnico; daughter, Roanna (Lin) d'Eon, of Lower West Pubnico; grandchildren, Philip d'Eon, Charlottetown, P.E.I. and Nicole d'Eon, Port LaTour, who he enjoyed spending time with; sisters, Antoinette Harpell, Adeline d'Entremont, both of West Pubnico. He was predeceased by brothers, Marcellin, Joseph; and sisters, Angelina, Seretha, Georgina, Marguerite and Pauline. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. in West Pubnico Funeral Home, Middle West Pubnico. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Middle West Pubnico with Father Albeni d'Entremont officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Peter's Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice. Gus had his own excavating business for 30-plus years. He was a founding member of the West Pubnico Fire Department; he was an avid golfer and helped build the West Pubnico Golf Course, donating the No. 9 green; he also served on West Pubnico sewer committee for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, especially at his camp in Gavelton, and he enjoyed meeting his friends in his garage several nights a week.
