Richard Fowler

Absent from the body; present with the Lord.

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Richard Martin Fowler, 75, of Middle East Pubnico, Nova Scotia, passed away on March 26, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March.29, 2018, in Calvary Baptist Church, Route3, Woods Harbour, Nova Scotia. Pastor Phil Williams will be officiating. Visitation will be held in the West Pubnico Funeral Home, 1125 Rte 335 in Middle West Pubnico, Nova Scotia on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 7-9pm. Also on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 12:30 until the time of funeral in the Calvary Baptist C hurch in Wood’s Harbour.  Private family burial will be at the Old Farm Cemetery in Shag Harbour.

Rev. Richard M. Fowler was born in Brewer, Maine on November 1, 1942, but was raised in East Corinth, Maine. He graduated from East Corinth Academy in 1960, after which he joined the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960-1966 when he was honourably discharged. He was a graduate of New Brunswick Bible Inst., took further education at Dallas Bible College, Dallas Texas, and received his Bachelor of Theology degree.

On June 8, 1968 he was married to Barbara Jean Thomas, and they had a special marriage for almost 50 years.

Pastor Fowler enjoyed carpentry, traveling and camping, but his main desire was to serve His Lord and Saviour sharing Christ with everyone he met. He and his wife, Barbara, pastored for over 45 years in Maine, New York, and Nova Scotia.

Richard and his wife, Barbara, have made Nova Scotia their home for 30 years.

He is survived by his three daughters, Christine Smith (Dennis) of Shag Harbour. NS, Deborah Sears (Don Dorey) Barrington Passage, NS, Julie Beth Brobst (Rob) Red Deer, Alberta, his 3 precious grandsons: Alex Sears, Nicholas and Benjamin Brobst, sister, Judith York (James) of Conn. sister-in-law, Suzanne Fowler, of Calif, so -in-law, Gary Sears, " special to our family" , Marcia D’Eon, Janena Goreham, Treasure Jacklyn, nephews, nieces and close family friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his mother, Josephine, his brother, Stephen Fowler, as well as his dear 20 year old grandson John Richard Thomas Fowler

Any memorial donations may be given as cheques made out to: "John Richard Thomas Fowler Memorial Bursary" at the Royal Bank, Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia B0W1G0.

The family of Pastor Fowler wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Yarmouth Hospital, the special nurses in oncology and the caring workers of the VON who took such amazing care of him.

Home at last, until we meet again in our Eternal Home.
